Mary was born in January 1773 in Peckforton and her christening took place on January 31st, 1773 at St. Boniface (Bunbury).1 2  Mary's father was William Brereton and her mother was Mary Ledsham.  Her paternal grandparents were Sandford Brereton and Elizabeth Dale; her maternal grandparents were Richard Ledsham and Ann Lucas. She had eight brothers named Richard, William, George, Thomas, John, James, Samuel and Abraham.  She was the second oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 61 in December 1834 in Harthill.  She was buried on December 23rd, 1834 at All Saints, Harthill.2
