The Will of John Brereton formerly of Great Heywood but late of Hanley both in the county of Staford Miller deceased who died 23 December 1863 at Great Haywood aforesaid was proved at Lichfield by the oaths of William Yates of Weston in the said county Grocer and Robert Cliff of the Borough of Hanley in the saif County Publican the Executors.

8 Oct 1820, John, a Journeyman Miller, married Sarah Harraman from Staffs.
In 1822 & 1825 John and Sarah had two children William and Sarah. They want on to have Mary Ann and Samuel, but for these baptisms the mother is recorded as Mary. Maybe he recorded his mother rather than the children's mother. He continued to live with Sarah through the census returns.
In 1841, John Brereton, a miller (not from Staffordshire), and Sarah (50 & 40) are at Haywood Mill, Great Haywood, Stone, Staffs (near Colwich) with Sarah (15), Mary (10) and Samuel (7).
In 1861 John Brereton, Miller aged 84, and Sarah his wife (63) were at Colwich, Stowe, Staffodshire with daughter Mary A (32), Dau-in-law Sarah (25) and grandson John (3 months)
