Helen was born about 1208 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland.  Helen's father was Alan McDonal and her mother was Helen de L'Isle.  Her paternal grandparents were Lord Roland of Galloway and Elena de Morville; her maternal grandfather was King Rognvald Sumarlidasson of the Isles and her maternal grandmother is Fonia of Moray.  She was an only child.  She died after November 21st, 1245 in England.  She was buried in Brackley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

‌Helen and Roger were married in a religious ceremony about 1217.  They had three daughters named Margaret, Elizabeth and Helen.
