Somerled II was born about 1113 in Morven, Argyleshire, Scotland.  Somerled II's father was Prince Giolla Gillebride Brighid of Argyll and his mother is Sigurdsdottir.  His paternal grandfather is Imergi Somerledson; his maternal grandfather was Earl Sigurd ("the Fat", "the Stout" "Digri") Hlodversson II of Orkney and his maternal grandmother is Princess Anleta ("Thora Donada") MacKenneth.  He was an only child.  He died on January 1st, 1164 in Renfrew.  He was buried in Abbey Of Saddell, Kintyre, Argule, Scotland.


Somerled II's family with Ragnhild Olafsdatter of Man

‌Somerled II and Ragnhild were married in a religious ceremony in 1140.  They had five sons named Rognvald, Angus, Angus, Arran and Dugall.
