John Cope Straley

John Cope was born on May 31st, 1907 in Sterling City, Texas.¹ John Cope's father was Thomas Jefferson Straley and his mother was Lucy Allen Cope. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Leland Straley and Sarah Rebecca Clark. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Harry Artemis, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Spurgeon, George Leland, Thurman Ernest, Sadie Allen, Alice, Myrtle Willie, Lucy Ophelia, Reba and Thelma Ethel. He was the second youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 46 on October 19th, 1953 in Portales, New Mexico. He was buried in Abilene, Texas buried.¹
