Stewart Washington was born on January 4th, 1888 in Clanton, Chilton Co., AL.1 Stewart Washington's father was William Powell McEwen and his mother was Martha Georgiana Adams. His paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears; his maternal grandparents were William Henry Cidney Adams and Lucy Frances Carriker. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named William Vernie, Vernie May, George Samuels, Charles Edward, Thomas Jefferson, James Berdie, John Adams, Tera Anderson, Lilla Maye, Annie Belle, Mary Lucy and Effie Lee. He was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 58 on December 24th, 1946 in Sylacauga, Talladega Co., AL.
