John Adams was born on August 12th, 1899 in Coosa Co., AL.1 John Adams' father was William Powell McEwen and his mother was Martha Georgiana Adams. His paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears; his maternal grandparents were William Henry Cidney Adams and Lucy Frances Carriker. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named William Vernie, Vernie May, Stewart Washington, George Samuels, Charles Edward, Thomas Jefferson, James Berdie, Tera Anderson, Lilla Maye, Annie Belle, Mary Lucy and Effie Lee. He was the third youngest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 61 on December 7th, 1960 in Sylacauga, Talladega Co., AL.1 General Notes
