John Sears McEwen 
John Sears was born on April 12th, 1889 in Rockford, Coosa Co., AL.1 John Sears' father was George Washington, Jr. McEwen and his mother was Attis Alice Allen. His paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears; his maternal grandparents were Francis Marion Allen and Martha Ann Wood. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Francis Washington, George Molton, Benjamin Jasper, Tom Slaughter, Beatrice, Mary Fannie, Tulloloh May, Annie Elizabeth and Ida Willene. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 91 on June 3rd, 1980 in Sylacauga, Talladega Co., AL. THE CHRONICLE
G. W. McEwen and son, John, of Sears Chapel, passed through Rockford
early Monday morning on their way to Montgomery to attend the State
Sunday School convention.(1)
Local and Personnal
Jno. S. McEwen has accepted a position in the mercantile establishment of
J. H. McDonald where he will be pleased to have friends call him. He
assures them fine treatment and proper appreciation of their patronage.(2)
THE ROCKFORD CHRONICLE
J. S. McEwen Purches Rockford Motor Co.
Rockford Motor Company formerly owned by Walker Auto Company, of
Alexander City, Alabama, has recently been purchased by J. S. McEwen who
was at that time manager and authorized sales dealer for Fords, trucks,
and tractors.
Mr. McEwen has had charge of the Garage for several years, and is a man
with business ability. He will continue to deal in fords, Trucks,
Tractors and all Ford parts.(3)
"MR. AND MRS H. W. POND ENTERTAIN THURSDAY
On Wednesday morning after many trips (and incidentally many slips),
Mr. W. H. Pond, accompanied by George McDonald, killed a sixteen pound
gobbler in the hills of western Coosa, Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs.
Pond entertained other huntsmen who had also been on the trail of these
turkeys since the season opened, and their wives at a "big turkey
dinner". Those enjoying this occasion were Mr. and Mrs. George McDonald
and son George, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Miller, Mrs. Martha Alford, Mr. J. S.
McEwen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prather and children, and Mr. W. W. Morris." (4)
