Francis Washington McEwen 
Francis Washington was born on May 23rd, 1887 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Francis Washington's father was George Washington, Jr. McEwen and his mother was Attis Alice Allen. His paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears; his maternal grandparents were Francis Marion Allen and Martha Ann Wood. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John Sears, George Molton, Benjamin Jasper, Tom Slaughter, Beatrice, Mary Fannie, Tulloloh May, Annie Elizabeth and Ida Willene. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 68 on May 3rd, 1956 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL. "Parties came through town Monday driving an automobile and at the upper
end of town. They meet Frank McEwen who was driving his horse to a
buggy. The horse refused to stand for the "honk" but took fright and ran
away, burning the atmosphere that was gently wafting its way over a near
by cornfield, finally detaching himself from the vehicle, then turning a
summerset in mid air, settled down to the progress of the World, and is
now exercising common horse sense."(4)

FRANK W. MCEWEN RITES AT ROCKFORD
Funeral for Frank Washington McEwen, 68 of 1520 53rd St, Central
Park, will be held at 3 P. M. tomorrow at Sears’ Chapel in Rockford,
Ala. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McEwen died Friday, and funeral services were held up pending the
arrival of a son from Flordia. Brown-Service in Norwood has charge of
the arragments.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie C. McEwen; a daughter, Mrs. M. B.
Deason of Tarrant City, four sons, Frank W. Jr., W. G. and W. H. McEwen,
all in Birmingham, and Sgt. Donald S. McEwen, stationed with the Air
Force at Orlando, Fla; four brothers, fours sisters, and eight
grandchildren.

Frank W. McEwen at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W.
Casey, on Thursday evening last week; Rev. W. C. Bledsoe officiating.
These are two of the popular young people of the community and their many
