His paternal grandparents were King William I (The Couqueror) De Normandy Of England and Matilda De Flanders; his maternal grandparents were King Malcolm III (Longneck) Ceanmor Of Scotland and Saint Margaret Atheling. He had nine half-brothers and twelve half-sisters, named Richard, Fulk, Henry, Robert, William, Gilbert, Fitzhenry, Robert, Reginald, Juliana, Elizabeth Joan, Eustacis, Sibylla Elizabeth, Emma, Gundrada, Rohese, Constance Maud, Matilda, Alice, Isabelle and Maud.
