Duncan I, known as The Gracious, was born in 1001 in Of,Atholl,Perthshire,Scotland.1   The Gracious' father was Earl Crinan Grimas Ceanmor Of Atholl,  Abbott Of Dunkeld and his mother was Princess Bethoc \ Beatrix Mcalpin Of Scotland.  His paternal grandfather was Duncan Ceanmor Of Atholl; his maternal grandparents were King Malcolm II Mcalpin Of Scotland and Edith Sigurdsdoittir Of Ossory. He had a brother and a sister, named Maldred and Lady Ceanmor Of Atholl.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 39 on August 14th, 1040 in Burghead,Grampian,Scotland.  He was buried in Iona,Scotland.1 1

‌The Gracious and Sybil were married in a religious ceremony in 1030 in Northumberland,England.1   They had three sons and a daughter, named Longneck, Duncan, Donald II and Margaret.
