Sir was born in Essendine, Rutland.1   Sir's father was Edward le Despenser and his mother was Anne de Ferrers.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh le Despenser the Earl of Gloucester and Eleanor de Clare; his maternal grandparents were William de Ferrers V Lord Ferrers of Groby and Margaret (Ellen) de Segrave.  He was an only child.  He died on November 11th, 1375 in Llanbethian, Glamorgan, Wales.1
