Nelle Sanford was born on February 25th, 1885 in Lexington,Fayette Co.,KY. Nelle Sanford's father was Augustus Bowman Piper and her mother was Lucy Willard Hammond. Her paternal grandparents were William Chauncey Piper and Mary Lavinia Sims. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Edward Sims, James Augustus, Walter Clay, Lewis Allie, George Bowman, Mary Hammond, Lula Allen, Artemisia and Ann Coleman. She was the oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 78 on March 26th, 1963 in Lexington,Fayette Co.,KY. She was buried in Lexington Cemetery,Lexington,Fayette Co.,KY.General Notes
