Mary Hammond was born on September 9th, 1886 in Fayette County,KY. Mary Hammond's father was Augustus Bowman Piper and her mother was Lucy Willard Hammond. Her paternal grandparents were William Chauncey Piper and Mary Lavinia Sims. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Edward Sims, James Augustus, Walter Clay, Lewis Allie, George Bowman, Nelle Sanford, Lula Allen, Artemisia and Ann Coleman. She was the second oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 80 on June 26th, 1967.General Notes
