William Chauncey Piper 
William Chauncey was born on March 12th, 1822 in Palestine,Crawford Co.,IL. William Chauncey's father was Edward Herndon Piper and his mother was Anna Blackburn. His maternal grandparents were William D. Blackburn and Elizabeth McClanahan. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Orlando F., John B., Edward Herndon , Jr., James A., Ann Eliza, Margaret Jane and Sarah Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 57 on November 5th, 1879 in Danville,Boyle Co.,KY. He was buried in Lexington Cemetery,Lexington,Fayette Co.,KY.General Notes

After his father's death he went to Lexington, KY to live with his great uncle, Joseph Ficklin, who was postmaster 1822-1850. William became a Minister in the Christian Church.
