Ann Eliza was born on October 15th, 1824. Ann Eliza's father was Edward Herndon Piper and her mother was Anna Blackburn. Her maternal grandparents were William D. Blackburn and Elizabeth McClanahan. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Orlando F., William Chauncey, John B., Edward Herndon , Jr., James A., Margaret Jane and Sarah Elizabeth.
