Edward Herndon , Jr. was born on February 16th, 1830. Edward Herndon , Jr.'s father was Edward Herndon Piper and his mother was Anna Blackburn. His maternal grandparents were William D. Blackburn and Elizabeth McClanahan. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Orlando F., William Chauncey, John B., James A., Ann Eliza, Margaret Jane and Sarah Elizabeth.
