Richard of was born in Winchester Castle, Hampshire, England.  Richard of's father was John I Plantagenet Lackland of England and his mother was Isabella de Taillefer of Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents were Henry II Curtmantle FitzEmpress of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine; his maternal grandparents were Aymer Taillefer de Valence of Angouleme and Alice de Courtenay. He had a brother and three sisters, named Henry III Plantagenet of, Joan (Gwenllian) Plantagenet of, Isabella (Elizabeth) of and Eleanor (Nell) Plantagenet of. He had fifteen half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Richard FitzJohn de Chilham of, UNKNOWN, John FitzJohn, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN, Geoffrey, Odo, Osbert, Matilda of, Hugh XI Lusignan, Guy, Geoffrey of Jarnac, Henry, Aymer, William, Joan (Joanna) of, Isabella, Maud, Agatha de Lusignan, Margaret, Alice de Lusignan and Isabella.  He died on April 2nd, 1272 in Berkhampstead Castle, Hertfordshire, England.  He was buried in Hayles Abbey, Worcester Cathedral.
