Isabella was born on October 9th, 1200 in Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire,  Wales.  Isabella's father was William the Protector Marshal and her mother was Isabel Fitz Richard Strongbow de Clare.  Her paternal grandfather was John FitzGilbert the Marshal and her paternal grandmother is Sibilla d'Evereaux de Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Richard Strongbow FitzGilbert de Clare and Aoife (Eva) MacMurrough of Leinster. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William the Younger, Richard, Gilbert, Walter, Anselm, Joane (Johanna), Maud, Eve and Sibyl.  She died in Berkhamsted Castle, Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire, England.  She was buried in 1240 in Beaulieu Abbey, Hampshire.
