Joane (Johanna) was born in Pembroke, Wales.  Joane (Johanna)'s father was William the Protector Marshal and her mother was Isabel Fitz Richard Strongbow de Clare.  Her paternal grandfather was John FitzGilbert the Marshal and her paternal grandmother is Sibilla d'Evereaux de Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Richard Strongbow FitzGilbert de Clare and Aoife (Eva) MacMurrough of Leinster. She had five brothers and four sisters, named William the Younger, Richard, Gilbert, Walter, Anselm, Isabella, Maud, Eve and Sibyl.  She died before November 1234.

‌Joane (Johanna) and Warin II were married in a religious ceremony after May 14th, 1219.  They had two sons and a daughter, named William, John and Johanna.
