Isaac was born on December 20th, 1800 in Montgomery Co., Maryland. Isaac's father was William Benjamin Gatten and his mother was Sarah Murphy. His paternal grandfather was Richard Gatten and his paternal grandmother is Mary; his maternal grandfather was Joseph Murphey. He had nine brothers and five sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Thomas, Charles, John, William Jr., Galentine, Greenberry, Joseph, James, Jonathan, Elizabeth (Betsey), Rachel, Catherine (Katie), Jane, Sarah (Sallie) and UNKNOWN. He died at the age of 92 on July 8th, 1893 in Richland Co., Ohio. He was buried in Four Corners Cemetery, Richland Co., Ohio.-
