William Benjamin Gatten 
William Benjamin was born on December 12th, 1742 in Montgomery Co., Maryland. William Benjamin's father was Richard Gatten and his mother is Mary. His paternal grandfather is Thomas Gatten. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Richard, James, Zachariah, Susannah, Ann, Margaret, Mary and Eleanor. He died at the age of 73 on January 9th, 1816 in Belmont Co., Ohio.General Notes
"William was a patriot in the Revolutionary War. In
the early 1800's (1811-12) they migrated to Ohio. On
November 4, 1814, William purchased land in Richland
County, Ohio (Siv 1/4 Sec 13 T19 R18) which later
became part of "Gatton's Rocks". It appears that he
bought the ajoining land on July 8, 1815. He died
between 1815
and January 9, 1816. Jan. 9 date being the possible
date the will was administered. In April 1830 a
petition was filed in Richland County, Ohio Common
Pleas Court by Hiram and Elizabeth Ball (Hall), Disputing the division of the
estate. Most of William and Sarah's heirs were listed
in this petition."
