Living at 22 Morris St., Runworth in 1891 which is presumably where he met Mary Hibbert (nee Tomlinson).
1846 - 1885 Sarah Tyack 39 39 Married in Liverpool in 1885.

Sarah believes Sarah Margaret Tyack was sister to Elizabeth Tyack, an ancestor (her 3x great grandmother).

By the 1881 census Mary (mother) and Sarah had moved down the road to 144 Cathcart Street. In this census Mary is registered as a widow. They are however joined by another James Tyack (11 months old) who is registered as son of the head of the household. By this time Mary was 76 suggesting that perhaps James was the illegitimate son of Sarah or possibly one of Mary’s other children.
1885 - 1916 John Richard Tomlinson 31 31 John's mother died soon after giving birth, so John was brought up by his aunt Polly.

By 1891 John (aged 5) was living with father and aunt Mary Hibbert and her step-children at 5 Junction Road, Bolton, Lancashire.

In 1901, living as a lodger (boarder) at 32 Commission Street, Bolton Lancashire with Alice Greenhalgh and her son Adam.  This would be just across the street from his grandmother Ann Tomlinson (nee Bolton), who was living at 17 Commission St.

In 1911, John Richard Tomlinson was boarding with his Aunt Mary Morris (nee Tomlinson), also in Commission Street.

John died in 1916.  His WW1 pension card names his wife Annie and 2 childred Edna and George with DOBs.  GRO records confirm the mothers name is Greenhalgh.

I originalt thought John and Annie emigrated to America around 1911.  They had two daughters there.  Waterford; Groton Connecticut USA.  This may be another family.
1877 - 1890 Martha Hibbert 13 13 Living at 292 Wigan Rd, Rumworth, Lancashire in 1881

Living at 18 Morris St., Runworth, Lancashire in 1881

Living at 22 Morris St., Runworth, Lancashire in 1891

Do not confuse with another Dinah Mortimore also born 1828 in Chagford, Devon, who married James and was still living in Devon in 1861 and 1871 and 1881.
1869 James Morris Living at 18 Morris St., Runworth in 1881 1863 Louisa Jane Mortimore Living at 18 Morris St., Runworth in 1881 1830 William Mortimore Living at 7a Carrington St. Hanover Square, Middlesex in 1861 (no children) 1861 - 1888 Emily Tryphena Mortimore 26 26 Living at 18 Morris St., Runworth in 1881 1826 - 1894 Thomas Bolton Tomlinson 68 68 Living at Shaw St., Little Bolton in 1841.

Appears to have married a few years after birth of William (in 1851).

Was married to Ellen in 1871.

Living at 135 Derby Street, Bolton in 1881 with family and adopted son Henry Griffiths.
1840 - 1912 Mary (Polly) Tomlinson 72 72 Mary Tomlinson ("Great Aunt Polly") was living in Shaw Street, Bolton, Lancashire in 1841, aged 10 months, and still in Great Bolton in 1851 (aged 10), and at 19 Shaw Street, Great Bolton in 1861 & 1971.

In 1865, Mary (Polly) was a witness at sister Ellen's wedding.  Then in 1866 she was witness to her brother Richard's marriage.

Unmarried at 40, and lving in with John Ward and Alice (sister) in 1881, but soon got married to James Hibbert later that year who had 3 children from a previous marriage.

By 1991 Polly was widowed, and now living in 5 Junction Road, Deane, Lancashire with the Hibbert Children and younger brother Joshual and his son John. (Name recorded as Hebbert on Census Index)

In 1894 Mary Hibbert married William Henry Morris.

By 1901 Polly (now Mary Morris) had remarried and was widowed again, now aged 60.  She returned to live with older sister Alice Ward at 17 Commission St., Bolton.

She was pictured at the 1901 Mather family wedding.

By 1911, Mary was probably living alone in Bolton, as all other family members had left (although its possible she had lodgers).

Mary (or great Aunt Polly) had married twice; had 8 (or more) step-children, but non of her own. She died in Bolton in 1912, aged 72.
1804 - 1889 Ann Bolton 85 85 Ann Tomlinson was definately a "Bolton", as her brother-in-law, John Bolton, lived with the family for much of his life.

In 1825, Richard Tomlinson and Ann Bolton were married at St Peter's, Bolton.

In 1841, Richard and Ann (40 & 35) are living at Shaw St. Bolton with Thomas (15), Richard (3) and Mary (10mo) mother Mary Bolton (60) and family.  There daughter Alice (12) was living nearby at Back Shaw Street, possibly as a servant.

In 1851 at 8 Shaw St, Bolton with family and Brother John Bolton.

In 1871, Ann (67, Wid) was a provision dealer at 19 Shaw Street. With her were Richard (son, 33, Wid), Mary (29), John (23), grandson Peter B (4) and Jophn Bolton (63, boarder).

After 1881 the family moved form 8 to 19 Shaw Street, Great Bolton, Lancashire. In 1861 Ann was widowed. 19 Shaw St was the former home of William Aspinwall.

Moved in with John and Alice Ward (daughter) by 1881, aged 77.  She died in 1889, and was buried on Christmas Day.  Richard and Ann were buried at Tonge Cemetery in a grave with 9 other family members (see reference).
1798 - 1857 Richard Tomlinson 59 59 20 Jan 1799 Richard was baptised at St Elphin, Warrington, son of "Richard Tomblinson Weaver and Alice his Wife"

Born in Warrington, and living at Shaw Street, Little Bolton in 1841 with Mother-in-law Mary Bolton and other family members and lodgers.

Richard's father (also Richard) died in 1801 when he was 2, so Richard and his mother Alice were probably supported by his mother's "Allen" family.  His younger cousin, John Allen, lived with him for many years.

In 1851, Richard, born Warington, and Ann (52 & 47) were living at 8 Shaw Street, East Bolton, a hand-loom weaver, with their six children.

Richard died 22 Dec 1857, making Anne a widow in the 1861 census.  Richard is Buried at Tonge, together with Ann (who died in 1889) and eight other family members.  Richard was the first to be buried, and Ann second to last.
1844 - 1911 William Tomlinson 66 66 Born: Great Leaver, Bolton, Lancashire

In 1851, living at 8 Shaw Street Great Bolton, aged 6.

In 1861, living at 19 Shaw Street, Great Bolton with mother and siblings.

Before William married in 1870, William may have had an illegitimate child.  "candsterry", the Terry family from Utah, share 24 cM (2 segments) common DNA matches with me and descendants of Ann Ellen Tomlinson.  William (or one of hid children) may have had another child that was adopted.

2 Jan 1870, William Tomlinson (25) of Shaw Street was a Carter when he married Mary Ann Barnes (23) of Mason Street, daughter of William Barnes, a Yarn Dresser

In 1871, William (a local carter, 26) and Mary Ann (24) had son Richard (1) and Mary Ruggs (Boarder, 60) living with them at 7 Cedar Street, Bolton.  They had the first three girls baptised at Holy Trinity, Bolton-le-Moors.  Son Richard died aged 7.

In 1881, living at 292 Wigan Rd, Rumworth, Lancashire.

James and Mary were from Ireland and Harlech,  Merionthshire (Wales) respectively. They spent some time in Liverpool (where Jane and Elizabeth were both born) before moving to 82 Mersey Street, Seacombe some time between 1839-40. In the 1841 census James’ occupation is listed as ‘Boatman’ while the 1851 census shows him as working as a Dock Gateman.
~1807 - 1890 Mary Roberts 83 83 The 1871 census shows only Mary and Sarah Margaret living together at 56 Cathcart Street, Birkenhead. Although Mary is recorded as married rather than widowed, she is registered as head of the household. There is no sign of either James senior or junior – both may of course have died in the intervening time or perhaps one or both emigrated (?) Mary’s status as head of the household does of course suggest that at any rate James senior was no longer residing at the family home (as opposed to simply being out at the time of the census).

By the 1881 census Mary and Sarah had moved down the road to 144 Cathcart Street. In this census Mary is registered as a widow. They are however joined by another James Tyack (11 months old) who is registered as son of the head of the household. By this time Mary was 76 suggesting that perhaps James was the illegitimate son of Sarah or possibly one of Mary’s other children.
1833 Jane Tyack Jane left home between 1851 and 1861 1840 James Tyack <1837 Elizabeth Tyack By the 1861 census the family, with the exception of Jane who had presumably left home,  had moved to 200 Price Street, Birkenhead and enlarged by 2 – Elizabeth’s now husband, Robert Hamilton and their first child Elizabeth Ann. In addition the family had 2 lodgers sharing the house.

By April 1863 when Robert and Elizabeth had their second child, John Whinton, the Hamiltons had moved out to a home of their own at Rosemount, Oxton.
1837 Robert Hamilton 1807 - 1886 Samuel Hibbert 79 79 1815 Martha Smith 1844 Thomas Hibbert 1848 - 1855 Samuel Hibbert 7 7 ~1836 John Tyack Thomas Owen 1863 George Marlow 1880 - 1881 James Tyack 7m 7m James Tyack, born Q3 1880 was illegitimate (mother's maiden name not recorded) and given Tyack as family name.

James was recorded as son of Mary (not possible), so was must be (illegitamate) son of Sarah (34, unmarried).

In 1881, James (aged 1) was with his mother Sarah Tyack (34) and grandmother Mary (74), living at 34 Cathcart Street, Birkenhead.
