Robert was born in June 1887 at Colne.1  Robert's father was Robert Wilson and his mother was Mary Ann Foster.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Wilson and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Matthias Foster and Mary Foulds. He had a brother and five sisters, named Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Eva and Annie.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 2 in June 1889 at Colne.2
