John's father was Peter Roberts and his mother was Eva Isabel Wilson.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Wilson and Mary Ann Foster. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Frank and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the four children.

‌John and Alice were married.  They had a daughter named SheilaSpencer700.  There are possibly more children.
