Samuel Edward Stocks (Official Number: 227798), born 28 Nov 1887 at Rock Ferry first served in the RN on the Black Prince in 1903 when he was almost 16. He left the Navy service on 9 Jan 1908 after serving on Vivid I.
In 1911, he was in the Wirral Union Workhouse (now Clatterbridge hospital) and single at Spital, Bebington, aged only 23, formerly a sailor.
There was a Samuel Edward Stocks who had three children christened in Tranmere in 1904, 1908 and 1908 (mother Sarah Ann Stocks), and the children's names were those of his nearest siblings. Perhaps he was married.
