Lydia's father was Thomas Sherlock and her mother was Mary Ann Quigley. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Sherlock and Lydia Eddowes. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Richard, Joseph, Gerard, Bernard, Cicely and Dorothy. She was the fifth oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 87 on June 24th, 1992 in Birkenhead.²
