In 1830, Sophia was witness to Josiah's marriage at Wigan to Amelia Vicars
The Bolton Chronical (2 Sep 1837) reported Sophia's marriage: On the 29th ult., at the Parish Church. Mr Thomas Walmsley, iron-monger, Deansgate, to Sophia, third daughter of Mr Matthias Mather, all of this town.
Sophia and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony on August 29th, 1837 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by minister A. Hadfield and witnessed by Thomas Bradshaw; Rachel Mather.2
