Eliza Mather

Eliza was born in 1827 in Bolton and her christening took place on September 16th, 1827 at St. Peter's (Bolton) conducted by Curate T Fogg.¹

Eliza's father was Matthias Mather and her mother was Mary Priestley. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, George, Mathew, Joseph, Edwin, Mary, Ellen, Rachel, Sophia, Rachel and Caroline. She was the youngest of the thirteen children.

  7 Apr 1850, Elizabeth Jane Mather (21), daughter of Matthias Mather a mechanic, married Samuel Glassy Brookes (23), also a mechanic at Manchester St Mary. At the time, both were living at 69 Bary Street, Salford. This is another person, daughter of Matthias and Jane from Nottingham
