Ralph Mather

Ralph was born on January 6th, 1779 in Prescot and his baptism took place there on January 31st, 1779.¹

Ralph's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Garswood. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, William, John, William, William, Margaret, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann, Ellen and Mary. He died at the age of 64 in February 1843 in Rochdale. His burial was on February 22nd, 1843 at St. James (Ashworth).

General Notes
- Like his father, Ralph was a Potter at Prescott.
  
  6 May 1799, Ralph Mather of the Parish of Prescot Clay-potter Bachellor and Hellen Dorning of the same place spinster were married by Banns.
  
  In 1799, Thomas, a potter son of Ralph and Ellen was baptised at Prescott. All later children also show Ralph a potter.
  
  Ralph retired to the New Inn at Spotland Ralph Ralph Mather (1777-1843) and Ellen (1774-1837) of the New Inn are buried at Ashworth, near Middleton. His son Robert was living there in 1842 (when William was born), and also grandson James became an Inn Keeper.
