John was born on June 18th, 1786 in Prescot and her baptism took place there on July 16th, 1786 conducted by the minister.1  John's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Garswood.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Mather and Ann Thompson. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Ralph, Thomas, William, William, William, Margaret, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann, Ellen and Mary.

‌John and Martha were married in a religious ceremony on October 5th, 1807 at St. Luke (Farnworth) by minister William Thompson and witnessed by Thomas Fillingham & Daniel Platt.3  There are possibly some children.
