Rachel was born in February 1861 in Adlington and her baptism took place there on May 4th, 1870.¹²

Birth Notes

Rachel's father was Isaac Mather and her mother was Alice Hargreaves. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, James, Esther, Martha, Margaret, Martha, Rachel, Elizabeth and Alice. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 2 in 1863 in Adlington.³
