Margaret was born in 1863 in Adlington and her baptism took place there on February 21st, 1864.¹²

Birth Notes

Margaret's father was Isaac Mather and her mother was Alice Hargreaves. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, James, Esther, Martha, Rachel, Martha, Rachel, Elizabeth and Alice. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
