Peter Mather

Peter was born on January 15th, 1810 in Astley and his baptism took place on February 11th, 1810 in Leigh.¹   Peter's father was Otho Mather and his mother was Rhoda Unsworth.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Eckersley. He had three brothers and four sisters, named James, Walter, Thomas, Ellis, Ann, Elizabeth and Hannah.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 76 in March 1886 in Ashton-under-Lyne.²
