Ann was born in 1808 in Astley and her baptism took place on January 23rd, 1808 at St. Stephens (Astley).1  Ann's father was Otho Mather and her mother was Rhoda Unsworth.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Eckersley. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Peter, James, Walter, Thomas, Ellis, Elizabeth and Hannah.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.

‌Ann and Benjamin were married in a religious ceremony on March 16th, 1845 at Manchester Cathedral.2   They had a daughter named Rhoda.  There are possibly more children.
