James Mather

James was born on May 25th, 1834 in Atherton and his baptism took place on July 31st, 1834 in Chowbent.¹²

James' father was William Mather and his mother was Betty Edge. His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Ann Mather. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Peter, Samuel, Richard, Sarah and Ann. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 63 on November 5th, 1897 in Leigh.³
