In 1861, Richard (15) was a boltmaker living with is father William at Factory Street, Atherton.

17 Sep 1870, Richard Mather, Bolt Maker, married Sarah Ann Hobroyd at Leeds.

In 1871, Richard and Sarah Ann (25 & 18) were at Morley, Workshire.  Richard was a Bolt & Nut maker.

In 1881 and 1891, they were still at Morley (with 6 children).

In 1890, Another Richard Mather (b.1830) of 40 Market Street, Atherton is listed in Slater's Directory for Chowbent as a Greengrocer.  This other Riichard Mather, grocer,  married to Mary was at 2 Factory Street, Chowbent in 1871
