Elizabeth's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Betsy Pendlebury Langshaw. Her paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Betty Barns. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Eddie, Sidney, Albert, Arthur, Eveline, Maud and Gertrude. She was the fifth oldest of the eight children. She died at 9 months old on April 24th, 1872 in Connecticut (CT).²
