Sidney was born in December 1866 in Astley Bridge and his baptism took place on May 5th, 1867 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge) conducted by A. Birley.¹

Birth Notes

Sidney's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Betsy Pendlebury Langshaw. His paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Betty Barns. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Eddie, Albert, Arthur, Eveline, Elizabeth, Maud and Gertrude. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 82 on October 15th, 1949 in Connecticut (CT).²
