Edward (Eddie) Mather

Edward, known as Eddie, was born in June 1865 in Eagley and his baptism took place on June 4th, 1865 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge) conducted by Curate William Espin.¹²

Eddie's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Betsy Pendlebury Langshaw. His paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Betty Barns. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Sidney, Albert, Arthur, Eveline, Elizabeth, Maud and Gertrude. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 32 in March 1898 in Farnworth.

  In is possibly Edward, son of William and Margaret born Bolton in 1863 than died in 1898 aged 35. However this is the only Bolton death record between 1891 and 1901. There is a 1893 death of matching age on the Isla of White but that is another Edward born there.
