Elizabeth was born on February 23rd, 1873 in Reddish.1  Elizabeth's father was James Mather and her mother was Mary Flitcroft.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Catherine Rawsthorn or ROSTRON. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James, Joshua, Sam, Frank, Mary, Kate, Isabel, Susannah and Jessie.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 2 in 1875 in Stockport.2
