Anne was born in October 1834 in Sharples and her baptism took place on January 18th, 1835 in Bolton.1  Anne's father was William Mather and her mother was Helen (Ellen) Cunliffe.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles; her maternal grandparents were James Cunliffe and Ann Gibson. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Samuel, Nathan, William, Catherine and Elizabeth. She had an adopted sister named Hannah.  She died at the age of 2 in October 1836 in Bolton.  She was buried on October 16th, 1836 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2
