Abraham was born about 1736 in Bolton. Abraham's father was Peter Mather and his mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Cranshaw.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Greenhalgh. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Jeremiah, Thomas, John, Richard, Peter, Margaret, Alice, Ann and Katherin.  He died in November 1799 in Bolton.  He was buried on November 28th, 1799 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1

‌Abraham and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on January 6th, 1757 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by J Folds and witnessed by John Rothwell & James Fletcher.3  They had two sons and a daughter, named Abraham, Richard and Jenny.  There are no more children.

‌Abraham and Alice were married in a religious ceremony on October 19th, 1770 at St. Peter's (Bolton) witnessed by Andrew Rothwell and James Livesey.3   They had a son and two daughters, named Abraham, Margaret and Margaret.  There are no more children.
