This is not the Peter from Warrington. He was a tobacconist and died there in 1773.
Baptism records for "Deane by Bolton" and "son of John" include Peter (1734), Catherine (1737), Thomas (1740), Samuel (1744), Thomas (1745), John (1746), John (1747), Ann (1748) , Richard (1750), Betty (1751), John (1754), Mary (1755), and so on. There must be at least two families here, but also indicate that this a Deane family (who had a Richard born 1750), cannot be the same as the Turton (Walmsley) family with brothers Peter and Richard (and possibly John & James).
The family have been shown not to be the ones of Middle Hulton, but possibly have been in Turton (or Rivington or Haslingden) for several generations. Turton Baptism records are lost for this period.

There are two Peter Mathers buried at St. Peter, with no parent shown (so probably adults), and no age. As Peter is an uncommon name here, one of these two records is most likely our Peter.
There are no Ellen Mather buriels, that could be his wife at St. Peter. Of the 11 burials for Ellen Mather at St. Peters, none match spouse or possible age.

The Peter buried at Deane who died at Little Hulton Town 3 Dec 1789 is another (he was born there too).
General Notes
WARNING: Parent are not confirmed, and the Peter from Warrington, son of John a butcher is another Peter, a tobacconist (like his uncle).
There are only 3 Bolton marriages for a Peter Mather, and two of these are a few years appart, suggesting Peter was widowed and married twice. However, the marriage to Betty Mayo is believed to be another Peter Mather from Hulton.
The family seem to have travelled a bit: Ellen baptised 1771 at Bank Street, Thomas I was baptised 1774 at Walmsley, Thomas II was baptised 1777 in Blackburn, Peter 1783 at Horwich, and John 1788 at Rivington. All records show abode as Great Bolton, so it seems they moved to different independant chapels for the baptisms, rather than be moving home, which must be difficult for a hand-loom weaver.
James Mather was witness at Peter's marriage. This may have been his brother. Richard and Ann's children are also listed on the same non-conformist register, so it is likely Peter had a brother Richard.

- One of the first pages of the Walmsley Chapel Meeting House (Presbyterian) is dominated by two Mather families, William+Ann and Peter+Ellin. These two families were to be the grandparents of Samuel Mather (1791-1854) and Alice Mather (1792-1879) who married 9 September 1810. Therefore Samuel and Alice (the parents of John Mather) were second cousins.

Peter and Ellen were married in a religious ceremony on January 5th, 1762 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by J Folds and witnessed by James Mather.3 They had seven sons and two daughters, named William, Richard, Thomas, Thomas, James, Peter, John, Ellen and Margaret. There are possibly more children.
