Ann was born in 1730 in Turton and her baptism took place on May 20th, 1730 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Ann's father was Peter Mather and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Cranshaw.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Greenhalgh. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Jeremiah, John, Abraham, Peter, Margaret, Alice and Katherin.  She died at the age of 1 in March 1731 in Turton.  She was buried on March 22nd, 1731.2
