Margaret was born on May 9th, 1771 in Bolton and her baptism took place on May 26th, 1771 at Bank Street Unitarian conducted by Reverend Philip Holland.1 2  Margaret's father was Abraham Mather and her mother was Alice Rothwell.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Cranshaw. She had a brother and a sister, named Abraham and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Abraham, Richard and Jenny.  She died at the age of 1 in September 1772 in Bolton.  She was buried on September 27th, 1772 in Bolton.3
