Albert's father was Levi Lomax and his mother was Margaret Booth. His maternal grandparents were James Booth and Ann Mather. He had six brothers and three sisters, named James, George, George, William, Samuel, Ernest, Elizabeth, Mary and Jane. He was the second youngest of the ten children.
