John was born on March 3rd, 1877 in Darcy Lever and his baptism took place on June 17th, 1877 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  John's father was William Buckley and his mother was Ann Pollitt (Greenhalgh).  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Buckley and Mary Webster; his maternal grandparents were Miles Pollitt and Betty (Elizabeth) Openshaw Greenhalgh. He had a brother and three sisters, named Ben, Sarah, Esther and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Levi, John, Phipps, Thomas, Mary, Hannah, Agnes and Martha.  He died at the age of 73 in July 1950 in Bolton.  He was buried on July 6th, 1950 in Lancashire.3 4
