Emma was born in March 1876 in Bingley.¹

Birth Notes

Emma's father was Moses Briggs and her mother was Alice Pickles. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Briggs and Abigail Bradshaw; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Pickles and Mary Roberts. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Mark, William, Roseanna, Harriet, Caroline, Abigail, Emma, Mary and Alice. She was the youngest of the ten children.
