Elizabeth, known as Eliza, was born in 1829 in Great Lever and her baptism took place on April 7th, 1829 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Eliza's father was George Barrow and her mother was Nancy Greenhalgh. She had five brothers and eight sisters, named John, Richard, James, George, Thomas, Margaret, Betty, Mary, Nancy, Nancy, Celine, Harriet and Ellen.  She was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children. She had a half-brother named Edwin.
